Safety is always the top priority in a family car, so the 5008 has a wealth of
intuitive safety features, incorporating state-of-the-art technology.
The 5008 comes with the latest-generation Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), which is able to detect the first signs of a sideways skid and help reduce oversteer. It keeps the car on course by reducing engine power and braking individual wheels. Department of Transport statistics reveal that cars fitted with ESP are 25% less likely to be involved in fatal accidents.
Depending on the version you choose, the Head-Up Display in your 5008 can tell you how many seconds you are from the car in front and warn you if you get too close. You decide on the distance the alert goes off.
To keep you as safe as possible, the 5008 has six air bags as standard – two in the front, two beside the driver and front passenger and two along the sides of the car. On a seven-seat version you’ll also have the option of airbags for the two back seats.
Every part of the 5008, not just the airbags and the Isofix fittings for child seats, has been designed for maximum safety. That’s one of the reasons it gained a 5* rating – the highest possible – from Euro NCAP, the most widely recognised independent vehicle safety assessor in Europe.
The front passenger seat features a three-point Isofix fitting, and the second row of passenger seats is equipped with three separate three-point Isofix fittings, so up to four compatible child safety seats can be easily and securely fitted, without relying on seatbelts. The front passenger seat has an airbag deactivation switch so that a forward-facing child safety seat can also be fitted, if needs be.
Driving on snow or ice is always going to be a challenge, but the 5008’s Snow Motion system makes it much easier for you. It works with the car’s traction control to prevent each wheel slipping, so you can move off and start to gain speed more securely.
